Toyoda cylindrical grinders allow for assured high precision and a long service life. Each feature the patented STAT® bearing feature, which prevents metal-to-metal contact and has a high vibration damping capacity. High accuracy grinding and longevity of the machine is achieved by using proven JTEKT technology.
Hydrostatic pressure lifts and holds the wheel spindle firmly at the bearing center position when the spindle is at rest. When the spindle is in rotation, a combination of hydrostatic and hydrodynamic pressures improves rigidity and vibration absorbing performance.
A total of 6 types of wheel mounting patterns are available. JTEKT selects the ideal wheel mounting pattern depending on workpiece, grinding location and grinding accuracy.
To achieve long-term stable high accuracy grinding, the foundation of the machine features a highly rigid, low vibration X type rib structure. The structure’s full-mold method allows for a highly rigid, low vibration bed.

The GE4 cylindrical grinder comes available with three possible center distances, between 19.7 in (500 mm) and 59.0 in (1,500 mm). All three options have a swing over table of ø12.6 in (ø320 mm) and wheel surface speed of 6,500 sfpm (33 m/sec) (opt 8,860 sfpm 45 m/s).
