New FH-SX Series HMC Delivers High Torque and Rigidity
Arlington Heights, IL – Toyoda introduces the new FH-SX
horizontal machining center at the Midwest APEX, Sept 13-15, in Novi, MI. The
new SX model is designed to provide the cutting power of a boxway
machine with 20 percent faster feed rates. Features include a newly
designed column and high-torque spindle to speed through steel without
compromising rigidity.
The SX Series machines have a 40 horsepower, 6000 rpm spindle. The
high-performance spindle has double the driving force on the Y axis,
with a ballscrew and motor on each side of the spindle. The SX Series
software has automatic compensation to protect against thermal growth
in the ballscrew. Thus it is not necessary to compromise the integrity
of the ballscrew with internal cooling mechanisms.
The SX column is redesigned to support the spindle’s cutting power,
maintain accuracy in hard ferrous materials, and maximize tool life
and performance. The new machines are available with 550 mm or 630
mm pallet sizes. The table load capacity is 2860 lbs.
For a wider range of applications, a 40 horsepower, 15,000 rpm spindle
is optionally available. This allows for easy changeover between light
and heavy materials to stay competitive in today’s fluctuating manufacturing
market.
“ Toyoda will continue to offer boxway machines,” says Tim Leoni,
Toyoda’s Director of Sales. “The new SX Series bridges a gap between
boxway and high speed HMCs for customers machining a wide range of
materials, or who want to get faster cycle times machining steel.”
