New Vertical Machining Centers
Offer Heavy-Duty and High-Speed Machining
Arlington Heights, IL – Toyoda Machinery introduces its new line
of vertical machining centers. The high-speed linear guide and boxway
VMC line achieves unsurpassed performance and value for high-speed
and heavy-duty machining.
Toyoda’s AF
Series has an extremely rigid cast iron base and column,
providing long-term accuracy and durability in high-speed machining
of die/mold applications. The direct-drive 12,000 rpm, temperature-controlled
spindle is paired with the powerful Fanuc 18i-MB control to meet the
demands of complex die/mold applications.
The BM Series, with 6,000-8,000 RPM geared headstock, is ideal for
heavy-duty applications in ferrous materials such as cast iron and
steel. The rigid iron base is paired with four Y-axis box guideways
to eliminate saddle overhang while the extra-wide column expands machining
capability. Many high-torque and direct-drive spindle configurations
are available in CAT 40 or CAT 50 tapers.
The vertical machining centers are manufactured by the Taiwanese
company Awea. Toyoda Machinery is the exclusive importer for Awea
bridge and gantry-type and 5-axis machining centers for large die/mold
and aerospace applications. Toyoda will house an extensive spare parts
inventory for the VMCs.
“ These are very high-quality machines, and I expect them to be very
popular with our existing customers, especially the automotive manufacturers,”
explains Tim Leoni, Director of Sales at Toyoda Machinery. “Awea has
demonstrated excellent manufacturing capabilities, and the ability
to fulfill our requirements for product modifications for the North
American market.”
Toyoda Machinery President, Howard Michael comments, “Awea is one
of the largest machine tool companies in Taiwan, and has a solid reputation
for building quality machines. This fits very well with Toyoda’s existing
products and customer expectations.”
