CHALLENGE

With high demands from the aerospace industry, the company was feeling the effect of a tight labor market. The shortage of skilled workers was making it difficult to keep pace.   

TOYODA SOLUTION

The company began purchasing horizontal machines and rail systems from Toyoda. Incorporating automation dramatically reduced cycle time and resolved the labor issue.

Equipment Specs

The company purchased two Toyoda Flexible Manufacturing Systems. The first has four Toyoda 630s (two for hard metals, two for high-speed) on an RGV system. The second has five 550s on a three- level, 90 pallet RGV system. They have plans to complete a third FMS unit, combining two FH1050s and a 16 pallet RGV system.

Results

The company has maximized its operating efficiency, increased capacity, minimized scrap, and is now operating lights-out. Now the company is positioned for continued growth and development.
